APRIL 2010 – Not Also, But Only April

Hey guys, first of all thanks so much to everyone who came along to the show last month. It was great to be back and I think it was probably the best night we’ve had yet. So having consulted the calender and tried to figure out which night wasn’t going to have any Champions League on, we’ve gone and booked in April’s show for Wednesday the 14th.

Signs are awesome for another brilliant night. I’m super hopeful of having a super special guest, but you have to come along on the night to see who it is. Doors are at 7.30pm upstairs in 4 Dame Lane and as usual, its free in.

MARCH 2010 – Not Also, But Only… returns.

For the first time since the Carlsberg Comedy Carnival in July, Not Also, But Only, the comedy storytelling night, is back in brand new digs (upstairs in 4 Dame Lane). Its still free in. It still features a host of top comedians and writers telling you their most funny stories. Its still hosted by Shane Langan. Its still a ridiculously fun, laid back night out.

Once upon a time, in a small venue up some windy stairs, there was a little show about a murderous cat, a friendly vampire and some other things that happened.
Shane Langan, from last year’s ‘Diet of Worms, Friends of the Puffincat’, is your guide for an engaging and hilarious trip through beginnings, middles and ends.

‘Not Also, But Only’ is a year in the life of Shane Langan, aspiring writer. Too old now to be considered precocious and displaying a depressingly low level of the genius he always just assumed he possessed, Shane has found life as a ‘writer’ (i.e. someone who doesn’t do anything else) a little less magical and a lot harder than he had originally imagined. Convinced that his best friend has been murdered by his pet kitten and struggling so hard to finish his novel that he has started writing the last chapter and working backwards, Shane paints a hilariously bizarre and lonely portrait of a C-list writer.

Already a highly successful cult Dublin club night, ‘Not Also, But Only’ is Shane’s solo debut at the Fringe. Shane has spent the last number of years as a regular on the Irish and international comedy scenes with Diet of Worms. This included three highly successful Edinburgh Fringe Festival runs, the internet phenomenon that is ‘Adventures of the Puffincat’ as well as RTE 2’s hit show ‘Dublin Stories’.

Shane Langan presents a laid-back afternoon of stand-up, short story-telling and poetry from simply one of the least boring* minds in Irish comedy.
